The Sheriff Looks at Hi Seltzers

I have a nickname derived not from my Wall Street days, but from the way friends notice me as observant of issues. My wife definitely calls me "the Sheriff" at times, but she remembers what happened 36 years ago, when I turned in my boss at Kidder, Peabody for embezzling more than a million dollars. That's a story for elsewhere!

I have been looking at the cannabis industry since 2013, and have definitely uncovered a lot of bad things. Very recently, I became very interested in hemp-derived cannabinoids industry, which includes the very popular THC seltzers. My goal is to help cannabis consumers learn about good cannabis products and good cannabis retailers. I am trying to educate in an area that is rapidly changing and highly confusing.

A Look at Hi Seltzers

Hi Seltzers sells THC beverages and gummies:

I think that there are some good things about this company, but they could be doing some things a lot better.

Some Positives

First, the products of the company have no sugar, no calories, and no alcohol. They are also vegan and gluten-free. Second, the company is part of several industry organizations.

The company sells online, but it also sells through retailers, including Spec's in Texas. This was announced in 2024.

Some Negatives

Where is Hi Seltzers located? One can't find this on their website very easily. Their lab reports to have an address, but it is in Delaware (a registered agent's address). The company does list a telephone number on the website, and the 859 area code is for Kentucky. The exact location is not on the website. In fact, one of the FAQ questions and answers says nothing!

I like when companies give information about the owners or operators of their companies, but this one does not have a thing about its management team on its website. The Sheriff found it easy to learn that the CEO is Louis Police, and you can learn more about him by listening to him on an Herbal Profiles interview. He maintains a LinkedIn account and is very active on it. He was interviewed in 2024 after the Spec's announcement, and Authority Magazine published an interview of him in March.

I like that the company is dedicated to educating, but their website leaves out a lot of things that could help, like the Our Story, which is quite lame. The website mentions Delta-8, which I think is a bad way to go about making cannabis products, but I see no evidence that it currently sells D8 products. They did that in the past, though.

Finally, while the company does have social media, it does not link to the social media on the website. X has @hiseltzers, which has only 66 followers and says "Nashville". The last post is from more than a year ago. The company maintains a page on LinkedIn with 482 followers currently. On Facebook, it maintains a page that has just two reviews. The company does post there. On Instagram, it has 4880 followers.

Conclusion

Hi Seltzers seems like a good company, but it needs to up its game on its website. I do not include them at New Cannabis Ventures in my directory of cannabis companies because of this missing information. I pointed out that Spec's, a company I really like, is carrying them, but Total Wines & More is not. Perhaps they can work on that as well!
